Provence Without the Attitude

Cooking Classes and Wine Tours

Provence, France

July 9-20, 2012

This 12 day tour takes place in a gorgeous French estate nestled up to the cliffs of Gordes in the heart of Provence. It faces directly out towards the Luberon valley with a landscape of every shade of green. The estate is called La Vigne. Gordes is just a two minute stroll, from the villa, through history and cobbled streets. We believe you will find La Vigne an enchanting place and one you will never want to leave.

The tour includes cooking classes, wine tours, exploring the French countryside with visits to towns such as Avignon, Arles, St. Remy, and the small Luberon villages. There will be wine tasting tours in the Côtes du Rhône wine villages, including a visit to the famous Châteauneuf-du-Pape Winery. There will be a wine expert on all the wine tours.

You will visit a goat farm and learn from the farmer how to make goat cheese. On another day you will visit a local bakery to learn how to make baguettes and other French yummies. We will also visit a chocolaiter. On these days we will have half day French cooking classes taught by Suzanne. There will also be one full day cooking class where you will learn how to cook the cassoulet, the ultimate comfort food. The final night’s feast will be prepared by a guest chef.

The fabulous estate has 5 bedrooms (which are air-conditioned), each with a king size bed and its own modern bathroom. There is a heated pool and two very large terraces with spectacular views. This recently restored traditional French home has Satellite TV with VCR and DVD, CD music system, internet access, and a professional chef‘s kitchen.
