Flavors of Tuscany - A Culinary and Wine JourneyMontisi, ItalyOctober 6, 2009 - October 15, 2009 If you dream of Italy - and who doesn’t - be prepared to fall in love with Italy on this tour. Come with us to the Tuscan countryside to learn traditional Italian cooking, visit great wineries, and mingle with local food artisans. You will learn how to make Pici with a local villager, visit the famous Banfi winery as well as smaller, local wine makers. You will visit local cheese makers and olive farms for olive oil tastings with a local guide. There will be day tours into Montepulciano and Montalcino for the great Brunello wines. You will spend a day in Florence, starting with a guided walking tour around the city and, of course, a visit to the famous San Lorenzo Market. And there will be an out of this world dinner at a Slow Food restaurant right in the heart of Montisi. Lodging for this tour will be at Villa Maddalena. This is a wonderful, authentic Italian villa where you will have the opportunity to settle into the life and rhythm of Italy You will love cooking in the large kitchen that even includes a wood burning grill. Each bedroom has its own modern bathroom. The villa is named after the owner’s daughter and is located on the main street of the ancient village of Montisi, a small village in the heart of the Tuscan wine country. Walk the streets of this medieval village at night and you will feel like you stepped back in time. The tour is open to men and women and the price is $3700.00 per person based on double occupancy. Price includes lodging, all breakfasts and dinners and some lunches, wine tours, cooking class, transportation around the local area and pickup at the Florence Airport.
